Latest StartMail Updates: Power Savings, Account Recovery and Email Authentication

Welcome to our latest release note where we are excited to share the most recent updates and improvements made to StartMail.

Sustainable Servers Reduce Power Consumption by 16%
In our commitment to sustainability, we have successfully adjusted the power control settings on our servers located in Utrecht, The Netherlands. By adjusting these settings, we have achieved an immediate reduction in power consumption of approximately 16%. It's worth noting that all our data centers operate on 100% renewable energy, underscoring our commitment to the environment while maintaining our promise to provide the highest level of email privacy and security to our customers.

Ensuring Smooth Account Recovery Process
Recently, we resolved some challenges related to the recovery process of our customers' accounts. During this work, we discovered that some of our customers had set up a recovery address but have failed to verify it, potentially hindering their ability to regain access to their StartMail account should they ever lose their password.

We cannot stress enough the importance of regularly reviewing and updating your account recovery settings. By verifying and updating your recovery address, you can make sure that you can regain access to your StartMail account if you forget your password. This article will guide you through the steps of setting up your recovery email address.

DKIM and DMARC: Email Authentication for Custom Domains
We are pleased to announce an enhancement to our custom domain product. As part of our continuous efforts to offer the best in email privacy and security, we have made it possible for our custom domain users to DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) sign their emails using their own domain names. Up until now this was not possible, as all messages were DKIM signed on our StartMail domain name. This new integration enables our custom domain users to align DKIM with their Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance (DMARC) policy. This will lead to better deliverability of emails and help prevent phishing and other email abuse. For more information on how to set this up, please see our support article.

Enhanced Email Content Display for Improved User Experience
We are committed to providing the best possible user experience and have recently made an improvement to the way newsletters and other emails are displayed. Our latest enhancement focuses on the rendering of email content, specifically addressing a common issue where text size would diminish to challenging readability levels. We have reengineered our display algorithms to ensure that text remains comfortably legible, regardless of the email's complexity or formatting.
